OSN, a regional pay-TV network will bring the star-studded glitz and glamour of the 65th annual Emmy Awards live to audiences across the Middle East and North Africa.
Of the record-breaking 238 nominations across 75 categories, over 50 shows air exclusively on OSN. The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences will announce the Primetime Emmy Awards on September 22, 2013 and OSN will broadcast the event live on September 23, 2013.
HBOs highly-billed Game of Thrones reigned once again with 16 nominations while Phil Spector, Boardwalk Empire, Girls, and Veep collected a combined 31 nominations. HBO, whose exclusive home in the region is OSN, secured a stunning 108 nominations this year.
Gaining the maximum nominations this year was the second season of critically acclaimed television show, American Horror Story: Asylum, which bagged 17 nominations including Outstanding Miniseries and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or Movie for Jessica Lange, who plays the role of Sister Jude Martin.
OSN is also home to the timeless comedy sketch series, Saturday Night Live, once again proving its mettle as the definitive comedy and variety show with 15 nominations, increasing its own all-time record with a total of 171 Emmy nominations to date.
Sonys Breaking Bad which will air its final season on OSN this August 2013 at the same time as the U.S. and Universals 30 Rock, each received a whopping 13 nominations; followed by Downton Abbey and Disneys Modern Family, both receiving 12 nominations.
This years comedy category included The Colbert Report, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart; and Louie, each getting six nominations; while How I Met Your Mother, Glee, and Louis C.K: Oh My God, were shortlisted for four awards.
Other leading series that air exclusively on OSN recognised with Emmy nominations include: The Newsroom, whose Season 2 is currently airing on OSN First HD on Mondays at 22:00 KSA; Parks and Recreation; Arrested Development; The Office; Late Night Show with Jimmy Fallon; Scandal; House of Cards; Homeland, whose third season premieres on OSN First HD in September 2013; and American Idol.
